VARANASI: The Ramnagar police arrested one Sandeep Mishra and his father Subhash Chandra Mishra for lodging a fake case of kidnapping.
Producing the arrested father and son before the media on Sunday, SP (city) Vijay Bhushan said on July 27, Subhash, a native of Chandauli district, informed the Ramnagar police that his son Sandeep was missing. On August 23, the missing person's report was converted into a kidnapping case.
Subhash continued to pressurise police for the early rescue of his son.
The police started investigations and surprising facts came to light. telephonic surveillance revealed that Sandeep was hiding at the house of his maternal uncle Rajkapoor Pathak in Mumbai and was in regular contact with his father. A police team raided Pathak's house in Mumbai and arrested Sandeep.
When the police returned to the city, Subhash was also arrested. During police investigation, it came to light that Sandeep was engaged in supplying wheat to floor mills in Ramnagar. But, he used to cheat the mill owners by supplying less quantity of wheat than the quantity shown on the papers. His practice had come to the knowledge of the mill owners who had stopped his payment. Despite repeated efforts to settle the matter, Sandeep failed to get his payment. He prepared a plan to lodge a fake FIR of his kidnapping to pressurise the mill owners.
