VARANASI: The potential areas of cooperation and collaboration between India and Canada in the field of public healthcare were explored on the concluding day of the two-day seminar on 'public healthcare in India and Canada', organised by the Canadian Studies Development Programme (CSDP), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), on Sunday.
Rajani Ranjan Jha, director, CSDP, BHU, said that speakers including Balakrishna Nayar from Punjab highlighted the potential of information technology that can revolutionise the public health sector by ensuring speedy transfer of information.

V K Jha from Meerut University stressed the need for implementing WHO parameters at all the hospitals and health institutions in the country.
Earlier, A K Sharma from IIT-Kanpur laid emphasis on the need for greater cooperation and collaboration in the field of research for palliative medicines and care between India and Canada.
Issues like joint efforts for reducing global warming and initiative for collaboration in dental care and eye care were also discussed on the occasion.
Experts also presented a number of research papers and presentations on the occasion.
