Educated women play key role in envisioning prosperous society: Guv
Varanasi. The joint convocation ceremony of Maharani Gulab Kunwari Women's Postgraduate College, Pindra, Maharani Banaras Women's Postgraduate College, Ramnagar, and Maharaj Balwant Singh Postgraduate College, Gangapur was organised on Wednesday at Maharani Gulab Kunwari Women's Postgraduate College, Pindra.
Chief guest Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru vice-chancellor Prof S Ahilya. Chancellor, governor Anandiben Patel, and the president of Maharaj Kashi Raj Dharmakarya Nidhi, Maharaj Anant Narayan Singh were also present on the occasion.
The event commenced with an academic procession attended by vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith prof Anand Kumar Tyagi, principals, management and academic council members from all three colleges. In her address, the chief guest stated that educated and cultured women play a pivotal role in envisioning a prosperous society, influencing freedom and humanity. She praised India as a nation of exemplary women, citing historical figures like Gargi and Maitreyi, as well as contemporary women scientists involved in India's Mars mission and President Droupadi Murmu. The governor in her presidential address, suggested that students could secure govt jobs based on merit and talent, and could leverage skills and technology for entrepreneurship, benefiting from govt schemes. She emphasised the need for educating rural women and praised the efforts of the three colleges in this regard. Registrar, Sunita Pandey, invited the principals of the three colleges to present the degrees to graduates. The VC awarded the Maharani Jayanti Kunwar Memorial Gold Medal to Preeti, Sifat Parveen, and Vaishali for academic prformance.
Gold medals were awarded to the top three students from each college, and degrees were given to a total of 160 students, including 40 from Maharani Gulab Kunwari Women's PG College, 60 from Maharani Banaras Women's PG College, and 60 from Maharaj Balwant Singh PG College, Gangapur.
