VARANASI: Two dreaded criminals Shri Prakash alias Jhunna Pandit and Ravi Patel had a tough time in the city on Wednesday when cops of Varanasi Commissionerate asked them to remove their clothes as part of frisking before they were produced before court for hearing in criminal cases.

While Jhunna was brought from Chitrakoot jail, Patel had come from Ghazipur jail for the hearing.

The commissioner of police A Satish Ganesh said that directives had been issued to junior cops to keep a sharp vigil on them during their stay in the city.

Jhunna, who had earned notoriety after his involvement in a double murder case had come to light when he was juvenile, was frisked by a team of cops led by ACP Cantt Lakhan Singh.

The criminal was seen all sweating when the cops asked him to remove his clothes for proper checking.

Similar treatment was given to Patel before he reached the court compound, although nothing objectionable was found in their possession. This action of police created panic among those who had reached the court compound to meet them.

The cops were extra vigilant against both these criminals due to reports that they are making Whatsapp and internet calls to threaten their targets for extortion. Both the criminals have a long criminal history, said officials.
