Devotees mark end of Chhath

With offerings of water and milk to the rising sun that was witnessed across majority of the water bodies on Saturday, the Chhath festivity concluded in city, marking the end of 36 hours of fasting observed by the devotees on the occasion.

VARANASI: With offerings of water and milk to the rising sun that was witnessed across majority of the water bodies on Saturday, the Chhath festivity concluded in city, marking the end of 36 hours of fasting observed by the devotees on the occasion.
Prominent ghats along the banks of holy Ganga including Dashashwamedh, Rajghat, Sheetala ghat, Kedar ghat and Assi ghat were flooded with devotees.

At most of the places near the water bodies including prominent ghats and Surya Sarovar (DLW) prasad was also distributed on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that the Chhath was celebrated for three days with some section of devotees completing the rituals on Friday morning itself. However, most of the devotees completed the festivity with tribute to the rising sun on Saturday.
