CPR training makes CISF personnel ‘life guardians’ at LBS Airport
Varanasi: CISF personnel will now stand not just as guardians of security, but as life-saving warriors, with over 400 officers and jawans at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport getting advanced CPR training.
Boosting internal security, public safety, and emergency preparedness, the training programme was conducted by Dr Shivshakti Prasad Dwivedi, a govt medical officer and renowned CPR specialist. He emphasized the critical importance of the “golden minutes” in cases of cardiac arrest, highlighting that timely and correctly administered CPR can bring a person back “from the brink of death to life”.
The training included modern medical protocols, hands-on practical sessions, real-life scenario-based simulations, and rapid decision-making techniques. Through dummy-based practice, each participant was trained in the precise methods of chest compression, rescue breathing, and coordinated emergency response, ensuring confidence and readiness in real-life situations.
Dr Dwivedi said that in emergencies, every second is invaluable. Immediate initiation of CPR by trained hands significantly increases the chances of survival.
CISF officials lauded the initiative, noting that such training significantly enhances operational efficiency and empowers personnel to act as effective First Responders for the public.
CISF commandant Suchita said that personnel deployed at sensitive and high-density locations like airports must possess not only strong security skills but also compassion and the ability to respond instantly in life-threatening situations. This CPR training elevates the force to higher standards of ‘Security with Service. The jawans are now better equipped not only to manage situations but also to save lives when it matters most.
