Cong has separatist mindset, says Yogi

Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said BJP workers have always lived for the nation and society, while launching a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing it of a ‘separatist mindset' and ‘betrayal' in the years after Independence.

Addressing the BJP's 47th Foundation Day function at Mansarovar Ramlila Maidan, Yogi said the party's rise to become the world's largest political organisation was driven by the ideals of its founders and the dedication of its cadre. He urged ‘every nationalist' to join the BJP to strengthen India's development journey.

Focusing prominently on Congress, the CM alleged that post-Independence policies reflected a lack of commitment to national unity, citing the permit system and special status for Jammu and Kashmir. He said Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had strongly opposed such policies, raising the slogan against ‘two constitutions, two flags, and two heads' in one nation and sacrificing his life for unity.


Yogi also remembered Deendayal Upadhyaya for introducing the concept of ‘antyodaya'. He said the BJP, formed under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1980, rose to power within 16 years, reflecting public faith in its ‘nation first' ideology.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said people trusted his leadership since 2014, citing decisions like the abrogation of Article 370 and welfare schemes for the poor. The CM outlined programmes till April 14, birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, including cleanliness drives and memorial upgrades.

MP Ravi Kishan echoed the ‘nation first' theme. The CM also felicitated veteran Jana Sangh-era workers at the event.
