VARANASI: The city witnessed a surge in Covid infection with eight new cases reported on Thursday, increasing the number of active cases to 16.
As the number of Covid cases are on the rise, the local administration and the health department have expedited their pace to streamline medical arrangements and facilities.

booths, which already existed in urban and rural areas in the district, have been activated again for corona investigation. He said that in the second wave of Covid, these static booths had played an important role for corona investigation.
He made an appeal to the people to get tested immediately if symptoms similar to Covid are seen. According to him, six static booths in the city areas include Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hospital, Bhelupur, Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Hospital, Ramnagar, Urban CHC, Shivpur, SSPG Hospital, Kabirchaura, ESIC Hospital, Pandeypur and Static booth,
BHU, while there are eight static booths in rural areas, including PHC Baragaon, PHC Kashi Vidyapeeth, PHC Sewapuri, PHC Pindra,
PHC Harhua
, PHC Chiraigaon, CHC Cholapur and CHC Arajiline.
District surveillance officer and ACMO Dr SS Kannaujiya stated that free facility of antigen and RTPCR tests are available at all these centres. Whereas in Static Booth BHU, the free facility of
True-Nat
, CB-Nat, Antigen and RTPCR test is available at the BHU static booth.
People can get tested at Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hospital Bhelupur, LBS Hospital Ramnagar, Urban CHC Shivpur and SSPG Hospital Kabirchaura from 8 am to 2 pm, while the facility of investigation will be available at other centres from 10 am to 4 pm.
