BJP expels Siddharthnagar district VP after his ‘objectionable’ video goes viral

Gorakhpur: BJP on Monday expelled its district vice-president Gauri Shankar Agrahari after his objectionable video of went viral on Sunday night. The decision was taken on the directions of state party president, said BJP state general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, who also serves as headquarters in charge. He added that the action followed a complaint lodged by the district president and detailed discussions with the regional president in Gorakhpur."After examining all facts and circumstances, it was decided to expel Gauri Shankar Agrahari with immediate effect as the party does not compromise on discipline and dignity and office-bearers are expected to uphold exemplary conduct before public and workers," said Shukla in a letter announcing the action.BJP district president, Kanhaiya Paswan, said, "The video had caused embarrassment to the party. We cannot allow any such act that tarnishes image of the organisation. The expulsion was necessary to maintain discipline."Reacting to his expulsion, Agrahari maintained that the video was "doctored and politically motivated". He added, "I have served the party with dedication for years. This conspiracy has been hatched to malign my image. I will present my side before the leadership."
