Biker shot at in road rage incident
Varanasi: A man identified as Nishant was shot at by four car-borne miscreants in a minor dispute related to overtaking in Lamahi area under Pandeypur Lalpur police station late Wednesday night.After inspecting the incident site and meeting the injured person at the trauma centre of BHU, DCP Varuna Zone Chandra Kant Meena on Thursday said CCTV footage was being checked to identify the assailants and teams were engaged to arrest them.During investigation, it came to light that Nishant, 35, works at warehouse of a leading e-marketing company in the Ramkatora area. He was returning from work to his home in Tevar area under Cholapur police station on his motorcycle. As he was passing Lamahi area he tried to overtake a car, in response to which, four youths inside the car started quarrelling with him. Following an exchange of heated words, all four came out of the car and opened fire at Nishant before fleeing the scene.Sustaining a bullet injury, Nishant somehow reached the hospital and after his condition improved, he reported the matter to the police. Police swung into action and Lalpur Pandeypur station officer Vivek Pathak reached the incident site. Later, the DCP reached there too.
