Creativity to the fore at BHU girls hostel show‘Srijan’
Varanasi: A three-day art exhibition titled ‘Srijan' began at the New PG Girls Hostel of Banaras Hindu University on Friday. In this exhibition, the hostel's students showcased around 100 artworks, including ceramics, sculptures, pottery, textile designs, paintings, and applied arts.The exhibition was inaugurated by Dean of Students, Prof Anupam Kumar Nema, Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof Maya Shankar Pandey and former Dean of the Faculty of Visual Arts, Prof Hiralal Prajapati. Main warden of the hostel, Prof Aarti Nirmal, welcomed the guests and highlighted the inspiration behind organising this exhibition, emphasising how Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain stressed creative and positive environment in hostels. The exhibition's coordinator, Kiran Gupta, discussed its framework and artistic aspects in detail.Guest speaker Prof Hiralal Prajapati praised the students' art and emphasised the importance of artistic creation and appreciated such an event being held in the hostel. Prof Anupam Nema termed it an excellent initiative and suggested taking the exhibition to a university level. He said students possess incredible hidden talents and such events help strengthen them.Prof Maya Shankar Pandey, described the students' art as extremely captivating and discussed the importance of artists in society, saying that art is the carrier of our culture and a good artist was one who can preserve cultural heritage through their art. Certificates for various competitions were also awarded to the students.
