Varanasi: At a time when stress has become a daily ordeal of bank employees after demonetization, the staff of Cantonment branch of
Union Bank of India
(UBI) here are de-stressing themselves with a popular bhajan 'Itni shakti hume de na daata' as they start the day.
Keeping up with the belief of offering prayers before starting the day for strength to
face difficulties
, the employees at this branch were seen humming the
devotional song
before the
public hours
began on Monday.
Although the activity has been a part of their curriculum at all bank branches across the country since 90's, yet the current situation seems apt for the bank employees, constantly surrounded by angry and stressed customers post-demonetization.
"The prayer before starting work has been a morning office ritual for all of us since it was first introduced in the bank more than two decades ago. It is our workplace habit and gives us strength before we start the day," branch manager
Ranbir Singh
said while talking to TOI on Monday.
"A little before our shifts are over, instrumental music of old Hindi songs is played on a low note to help us relax. It also helps to keep anxiety at bay and lifts our mood," he said.
He urged other banks to start the practice in order to save the employees from stress and make them feel relaxed.
