8 held for oil theft, cops seize tankers

Varanasi: Based on information about oil theft from diesel and petrol tankers, a raid was conducted by SOG-2 in the Bhiti area of Ramanagar police station area on Thursday under the direction of Police Commissioner Varanasi Mohit Agarwal and leadership of DCP Crime Saravanan T.During the operation, eight persons involved in illegal oil theft were arrested on the spot, and two tankers of Indian Oil were also seized. The arrested persons included Vinod Patel, resident of Jabalpur district, Dinesh Patel, Deepak Gupta, Ajay, Bhuneshwar Pal, all residents of Chandauli district, Deepak Kumar Saroj, Ashish Singh alias Pappu, residents of Jaunpur district, and Rajesh Singh, resident of Bhadohi district.According to the police commissioner, the police seized stolen diesel, approximately 525 liters, Rs 36,200 in cash, and equipment used for oil theft, oil measuring cans, and several drums. The operation was conducted in the presence of officials from the supply department and Indian Oil, and necessary legal action is being taken against the involved individuals.
