More than 25 passenger of a roadways bus suffered serious injuries when it fell in the Chandraprabha river from a bridge near Baburi police station in Chandauli district on Sunday afternoon.

VARANASI: More than 25 passenger of a roadways bus suffered serious injuries when it fell in the Chandraprabha river from a bridge near Baburi police station in Chandauli district on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, a roadways bus left Chakia from Mughalsarai with about 40 passengers. When the bus was passing through a bridge on river Chandraprabha the bus driver lost control on steering in a bid to save a trolley-puller and the bus fell in the river.

On hearing the cries of injured passengers the police and villagers ran towards the incident site and started rescuing the injured passengers.
Initially all the injured passengers were rushed to local hospital from where more than 18 were referred to Varanasi due to sharp deterioration in their health condition, said Baburi police. The condition of one eight-month-old girl was stated to be critical.
