Varanasi: Two persons having alleged connection with Popular Front of India (PFI) were sent to jail after being produced before court here on Saturday evening.
Both were arrested by UP Anti-Terror Squad and handed over to Adampur police after lodging an FIR.
Talking to TOI additional commissioner of police Santosh Kumar Singh said that the team of UP ATS had arrested Rizwan Ahmed and Mohd Shahid and handed over to Adampur police.
Assistant commissioner of police (Kotwali) Trilochan Tripathi said that an FIR was lodged against duo under section 121(attempt to wage war against government of India, 153a (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 295a (malicious act to outrage religious feelings), 109 (abetting any offence), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and 13(1)ab of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act with Adampur police.
They were produced before court of addl commissioner of police (junior division) Alka Rani after arrest in Friday’s crackdown.
