100-day intensive campaign by TB champions in dist
Varanasi: Raising awareness on Tuberculosis (TB) and its treatment, the TB champions, roped in by the health department, conducted a total of 151 community meetings and awareness sessions in 144 primary schools, along with meetings at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in both urban and rural areas.
CMO Dr Sandeep Chaudhary said under the 100-day intensive tuberculosis detection campaign, the health department, in collaboration with the Impact India Project and World Health Partners, is working to raise awareness about TB among community members through TB champions. So far, 131 TB champions were trained to educate children and community members at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, primary schools, VHSNCs, and community meetings in urban and rural areas. District TB officer Dr Piyush Rai said that TB champions are now working in their respective villages, conducting community meetings, school meetings, patient-provider meetings, and reaching out to patients who discontinued their medication to encourage them to resume treatment.
He added that the 131 TB champions conducted a total of 151 community meetings and awareness sessions in 144 primary schools in urban and rural areas.
