VADODARA: Yi Vadodara jointly with the Department of Employment and Training of Gujarat government along with the Institute Management Committee (IMC) of Gorwa Mahila ITI had recently organised a women’s job fair in the city.
The job fair linked 1,500 women job seekers with job providers and women trainees from across Vadodara, Panchmahal, Anand, Godhra, Chhota Udaipur and Dahod districts on Saturday.
The job fair witnessed companies from various sectors such as banking and finance, insurance, hospitality and food processing, IT and ITES, sales and retail, security services, draughtsman civil and interior design, healthcare and para medical, domestic worker, mechanical, electrical, maintenance and instrumentation technicians among others.
S A Pandav, deputy director, employment and training of Gujarat government, “This fair is one of a kind and the first in the Gujarat state to promote women empowerment. To fulfil a total of 2,700 vacancy, 70 industry partners were present at the fair. Twenty five women ITI’s have been incorporated in the state. A provision of 25 % reservation of seats only for women has been made mandatory for 286 it is of the state.”
“It is impossible for India to grow and develop if there are no equal opportunities of employment of women,” said Sharmila Mahurkar, director of Checkmate Services Private Limited.
Divya Bhatt, global head, process cluster at L&T Technology Services Limited said, “In present scenario, globalization has helped women by providing better opportunities and increased chance to work which makes them an economically independent work force. Promoting such job fair’s gives an opportunity to the women to step ahead and work for themselves.”
