Water supply in Vadodara to be hit

Vadodara: Water supply to Vadodara city will be hit due to the flooding in Mahi river. Supply from the French wells of the civic body in the river as well as the water supply project in Sindhrot which draws water from the river will be affected. The supply from Sindhrot was affected as the approach road to the water supply project was submerged under water. The power supply in the area was discontinued as a precautionary measure. In-charge additional city engineer (waterworks) Amrut Makwana said that the water in the river had started receding around Sindhrot on Monday. It was expected that the project would resume operations in the night, he said. Water supply from two French wells located at Raika and Dodka was also affected due to flood in Mahi river. tnn

Water supply to be affected in four zones in Chennai

The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will be conducting line linking work in Koyambedu, affecting the supply of drinking water to several corporation zones for 48 hours. Residents in affected areas have been advised to store enough water for two days and register on the CMWSSB website for emergency water supply through lorries. The supply through lorries to areas without piped water supply will continue as usual.

Heavy rain hits water supply in Dholpur

Water supply in Dholpur, Rajasthan has been disrupted for the past few days due to heavy rainfall and power supply issues. The Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) was unable to operate the pumps because of problems with the power supply from Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL). However, the situation started to improve on Tuesday and normalcy is expected to be restored by Wednesday. Despite the disruption, water consumption was not high due to the availability of local facilities like handpumps.

Residents block road over water supply

Residents of Agrahara Samakulam in Coimbatore staged a protest, blocking a road, due to the lack of drinking water supply in their area for over a month. The issue began when a pipeline used for supplying water broke, and even after repairs, the water was not pumped to the overhead tank. The protesters dispersed after authorities assured them that the problem would be resolved.
