Water level at Narmada dam rises again

Vadodara: Water level in Sardar Sarovar Dam has started to rise again. On Monday, the level touched 137.96 metres due to continuous inflow of water in the dam. According to the dam authorities, 2.61 lakh cusecs of water was flowing into the dam while 2.60 lakh cusecs was being released in the Narmada river downstream.

Flood alert sounded as KRP dam reaches maximum storage level

The water level in the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project (KRP) dam has reached its maximum capacity, prompting authorities to issue a flood alert along the Thenpennai river pathway. The dam's storage level is 50 feet, and it currently stands at 50.65 feet. Neighbouring districts have been notified of the alert, and residents living near the river have been advised to move to safer areas. This is the second time this month that the dam has reached its maximum level.

Ukai dam nears full reservoir level

The water level at Ukai dam in Surat, India is just one foot away from its full reservoir level. The dam currently has a storage of 97% of its total capacity. However, there is no heavy rain in the catchment area and the water release from Hatnur has reduced, which will result in a decrease in the inflow at Ukai. The demand for water release is expected to increase for the upcoming Ganesha immersion. In other parts of India, dams in Gujarat and Pune have received good rainfall, leading to water discharge.

Mismanagement in dam water release caused destruction

Congress leader Jay Narayan Vyas criticized the mismanagement of water release from the Sardar Sarovar dam, which led to severe flooding and destruction of property and crops. However, the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL) claimed that effective water management prevented losses downstream. The dam has reached its full reservoir level, resulting in the opening of sluice gates and relocation of people living along the Narmada river banks due to heavy rainfall.
