NEW DELHI: Dia Gosai, a specially-abled girl from Vadodara, had the honour of presenting portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez during their roadshow in the city on Monday.
The leaders were in Vadodara to inaugurate the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus facility, which will manufacture C-295 military aircraft.
The roadshow spanned 2.5km, from the airport to the aircraft manufacturing facility.
Dia patiently waited to meet the leaders and presented them their portraits. Both Modi and Sanchez took a moment to speak with her.
“I was thrilled to learn that PM Modi was coming to Vadodara, and I wanted to give him something special. When he received the sketch, he shook my hand, which made me very happy. PM Modi even introduced me to PM Sanchez,” an elated Dia told reporters.
During the roadshow, Modi and Sanchez were welcomed with cultural performances showcasing country's rich heritage.
The Tata-Airbus facility represents country’s first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft.
Under this agreement, 40 aircraft will be built in Vadodara, while Airbus will directly supply 16 aircraft.
Tata Advanced Systems is tasked with manufacturing these 40 aircraft, developing a comprehensive ecosystem that encompasses manufacturing, assembly, testing, and maintenance throughout the aircraft’s life cycle.
In addition to Tata, prominent defense public sector units like Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics, as well as various private micro, small, and medium enterprises, will contribute to this initiative.
