VADODARA: Riding high on the build-up to Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) are eyeing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) totalling Rs 3,000 for projects in the city. Projects pertain to hospitality, retail, health and realty sectors. Like the last summit, officials from the civic body will remain present at Science City in Ahmedabad for signing the MoUs.
In the last summit, prominent organisations like Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and Raheja Group had signed MoUs for projects in the city.
"We will represent the state government and shall sign the MoUs on behalf of Gujarat Urban Development Corporation (GUDC). Most of the MoUs likely to be signed during the summit will pertain to realty sector," said VMC commissioner MK Das. The officials refrained from giving details of the companies that will be signing the MoUs. However, Das said that the MoUs pertain to malls, multiplexes, commercial projects, hospitals and hotels coming up in VMC and VUDA limits and that around 12 companies will be signing the MoUs. Das said most projects for which MoUs were signed in the last summit had commenced. "L&T recently inaugurated its knowledge city and will gradually shift most of its activities to the city. Raheja Group has also been given land near Dumad and has submitted the plans for an IT park there," Das said. He added that in 2007, two MoUs worth Rs 3,000 crore were signed by the civic body and VUDA on behalf of GUDC.
