VMC files offence against bikers chasing cattle away

Vadodara: An offence was registered against unidentified persons who came on motorcycles to chase bovines away from the cattle team of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on April 27.
Sources said that it was a common practice of cattle owners to follow cattle teams and chase bovines away. An official said that the cattle ran berserk when this happened and could have led to accidents with commuters.
The offence registered at the Bapod police station on Wednesday night states that the incident took place when the cattle team was on duty on the Sardar Estate Road in the eastern parts of the city. A group of unidentified men riding on three to four motorcycles started following the party and chased the bovines away. While the incident took place on April 27, the offence was registered only on Wednesday after video of the incident was shown on a news channel The men were accused of chasing the cattle party and preventing officials from exercising their duties.
