VMC clerk accused of double murder sent to jail

Vadodara: Rajesh Raj, a clerk with Vadodara Municipal Corporation who murdered his wife and daughter over family disputes, was sent to judicial custody on Tuesday.

Raj had turned himself in at Panigate police station on Monday after committing the crime following which the police had arrested him. Cops had also recovered the kitchen knife which the accused had used to stab his wife Daksha and daughter Mrunali. On Tuesday, the police produced Raj before a local court and did not seek custody as the murder weapon had been recovered.

The court then ordered Raj to be sent to jail.

Raj had killed Daksha after the couple had been involved in arguments over several issues. When Mrunali tried to intervene, Raj stabbed her too in a feet of rage. When the couple’s other children Parthvi and Revant tried to save their mother and daughter, Raj attacked them as well.
