VADODARA: A teacher of a government school living on Ajwa Road was arrested on Saturday for murdering his wife over suspicion of having extra-marital affair.
The 39-year-old victim Shilpa Patel, who works as a nurse at GMERS Medical College and Hospital in Gotri, was found dead near Vaikunth-2 Society near VIP Road on Friday late evening.
According to police, a passerby had informed about Patel’s body around 8.30pm on Friday. Patel was on her way to the hospital on her scooter as she had the night shift. Initially, it was suspected that Patel could be a victim of a road accident. But since there was no damage on her scooter and her face injury also seemed to have been caused by an attack, cops investigated for the attacker.
Cops became suspicious about her husband Jayesh as his answers were not satisfactory. When he was interrogated for a few hours, he broke down and admitted that he had killed Patel. Jayesh told cops that he suspected that she had extra-marital affair and used to go to meet her paramour. When Patel left for work on Friday, Jayesh followed her and near the gate of the society, he hit Patel with a heavy rod on her face while she was riding. The accused fled from the spot, while Patel remained on the road in pain until she succumbed.
