Two more men caught with four country-made pistols

VADODARA: The arrest of

Salim Sheikh from Panigate on Tuesday has led police to nabbing two more criminals.

On Wednesday, police arrested 63-year-old Ajay

Chauhan

and Sanjay Raj and seized four pistols from them. Cops had found a pistol and 69 live cartridges from Sheikh, who was arrested in an attempt to murder case.

“During interrogation, Salim revealed that he had bought the pistol from Sanjay Raj who works as a security guard at a firm in Makarpura-GIDC. When we arrested Raj and searched his house, we found two more pistols,” said DCP (crime) Jaydeepsinh

. Raj is a history-sheeter and has prohibition as well as assault cases filed against him. He was also detained under Prevention of Anti-Social Act (PASA) twice in the past.

Raj revealed the name of Chauhan who too was picked up by the cops. “We found two pistols from Chauhan’s place. He works in a cement shop. We are now interrogating the accused to find the person who sold them the firearms. They will also be questioned about the reasons for keeping so many weapons,” Jadeja told TOI. police six times for assaulting people. Salim had been on the run after the attempt to murder case and he even got an aadhar card by fake name Imran Sheikh. The police said that he forged identity documents to get aadhar card. Salim told the cops that he had kept the weapon for self-defence as he feared an attack on him by his rivals. A local court remanded Salim to two days of police custody on Wednesday.
