Vadodara: Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra concluded peacefully in the city on Tuesday evening amid tight police security. Thousands of cops were deployed en route the procession in the old city areas to ensure no untoward incident occurs during the procession.
“Thousands participated in the procession that was peaceful,” said
Shamsher Singh, city police commissioner. Cops were on the edge during the Yatra as
riots had occurred during the Ramnavmi processions in the old city a few months ago.
To ensure no repeat of trouble, cops rounded up about 150 mischief-mongers over the past couple of days. Over 2,000 cops apart from drones kept an eye on the Yatra route. Raths rolled out in Sayajigunj area and passed through Raopura, Nyay Mandir Road and ended near Polo Ground.
