Teenager commits suicide after being scolded for late night phone calls

A 17-year-old girl was found hanging by a ceiling fan at her residence in Manjalpur on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Ankita Saroj. She was found hanging by the ceiling fan in her room by her family. According to the Manjalpur police, the girl took the drastic measure as she was upset after being reprimanded by her mother.

She was found hanging by the ceiling fan in her room by her family. According to the Manjalpur police, the girl took the drastic measure as she was upset after being reprimanded by her mother.

According to the deceased’s grandfather, Shriram Saroj, the deceased and her mother got into an argument late on Friday night. Her mother confronted over frequent phone calls that she attended late night. Ankita, who was visibly upset, shut herself in her room. The police could not find any suicide note from the spot.
The deceased’s family told the police that a 35-year-old married man from Sanjaywadi called her frequently. The father of two wanted to have a physical relation with the teenager. However, the deceased did not want a relationship with him and avoided his efforts. According to the family, the man called her frequently and harassed her.
Following the incident, the Manjalpur filed a case of accidental death. This is the second incident of suicide in Vadodara district in last 10 days. On May 16, Samant Parmar (34), a resident of Gothda village of Savli taluka, committed suicide due to financial woes. Parmar’s suicide created a ruckus at the spot where he was found hanging. Locals attacked one of the abettors of Parmar’s suicide and the Savli police in the commotion.
