VADODARA: The M S Usniversity (MSU) suspended

, a geology student who had assaulted a temporary teaching assistant on July 31.
Khan will remain suspended till the seven-member probe committee submits its report in the incident. Khan was also issued a show-cause notice and has been barred from entering the university campus until the committee gives its final decision.
The committee, which was formed on Wednesday by the university officials, called Khan, Pradeep Vegad, the temporary teaching assistant, and three witnesses on Thursday to give their statements. After the hearing, the committee decided to suspend Khan, who is linked with National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
Khan was also issued show-cause notice asking him to explain why he should not be rusticated from the university. It was before the committee was formed the university officials had said that they will take strict action against Khan who might even get rusticated for insulting and misbehaving with a teacher.
Meanwhile, office-bearers of Maharaja Sayajirao Vishwavidyalaya Shaikshik Sangh (MSVSS) submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas demanding strictest action against Khan and also prohibiting his entry in the campus.
On Wednesday, Khan had appeared at the university’s head office with his father but the varsity officials had declined to meet him. They asked the duo to remain present before the committee.
