Student attempts suicide over ‘harassment’ by teachers
Vadodara: A 19-year-old student of a private college attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the 3rd floor of his college building in the city on Sunday. The Kapurai police filed a complaint against two teachers of his college on Sunday under the SC/ST Act and criminal intimidation for allegedly harassing the student identified as Rohan Rathod.According to the police, Rathod's uncle, Samir Rathod, a resident of Junagadh, filed the complaint against the teachers. The police said that Rathod, who studies in the 1st year of BAMS, allegedly faced discrimination due to his caste from the accused, identified as Komal and Rushikesh, who are professors at his college.

The accused allegedly harassed him physically and mentally, and insulted Rathod in class. The accused also threatened to fail Rathod and threw away his journal. Fed up with the alleged harassment, Rathod jumped from the 3rd floor of his college building on Feb 10. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.
