VADODARA: Five employees of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), who turned hostile during a 2-year-old suspension case hearing, were served show-cause notices. Municipal commissioner Manoj Das issued the notices asking for an explanation of their act and ordered for a re-investigation.
During a case presentation in which Rajendra Saida, a junior clerk of VMC East Zone office was suspended, then ward officer Mahesh Rabari turned hostile and four officers towed Rabari's line.
A source said Saida was responsible for allotment of contract work. He used to forcibly sell contractors products of a private firm, of which his wife was a dealer.
After a complaint in May 2007, the then municipal commissioner appointed an investigating officer to probe the matter. Officer Vaishanavi Kurkar raided office and got incriminating evidence Saida's malpractice. A case was filed and he was suspended immediately in May 2007.
