Revival Group accuses Nayan Mongia of functioning like a dictator
VADODARA: The
“It can’t be like a dictatorship where only one view prevails. We have two other mentors in the BCA. Why didn’t they quit? Why only Mongia has all the problems. He has quit thrice in last few years,” Amin said.
Mongia recently quit from the post of junior cricket’s mentor after accusing the Revival Group of not consulting him while picking up coaches and trainers. He was also upset over selection of players.
After quitting, Mongia said that his dues were not being cleared by the BCA.
BCA secretary, Amar Petiwale said, “We had asked him to give a report of his work in a pre-decided format. But Mongia’s report was more about complaints and less about the work he did.”
Mongia, however, said that he has submitted a detailed report about the work he did during the months he was working as the mentor. “I used to make the cricketers practice and also work with two players daily. It’s all signed on paper and submitted to the BCA. And if the wickets are not of good quality, I will of course the raise the issue in the interest of our cricketers,” Mongia said. The Revival Group on Tuesday said that it has hired 65 former cricketers as professionals and added seven to eight grounds in last few years.
When asked about Royal Group’s head, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad’s comment that the Revival Group can only make garba grounds, Amin said, “It’s a personal allegation against me. However, I would like to say that we don’t charge a single penny for the ground we give to NGO, United Way of Baroda for organizing garba.”
The United Way of Baroda, one of the popular garba venues in the city, has been organizing Navratri at the FB Colony Ground in Alembic Ltd’s premises for the last few years.
