Rain continues to pound Vadodara

Vadodara: The skies were deceptively clear on Friday afternoon when all of a sudden it turned overcast and what followed thereafter till the late evening left the city roads submerged in knee-deep waters within a couple of hours. The Sayajigunj underpass that connects eastern areas of the city with the west, too was water-logged causing traffic snarls in Sayajigunj area. Many shops in the old city area too downed shutters by early afternoon before the heavy downpour. The flyover on Old Padra Road saw massive traffic jams in the evening during the peak hours. From the Mandvi road, Raopura road and Panigate and Wadi areas to Alkapuri, Subhanpura and Gorwa, many areas witnessed massive waterlogging from rainwater. Two-wheelers and cars got stuck on the waterlogged roads while pedestrians too had great difficulty while wading through the flooded streets. tnn
