VADODARA: Professionals who have left their mark in their respective fields despite their physical limitations will converge at Prerna 2022, Asia’s largest fest for disabled students, organized by MS University’s Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE).
From the first-ever Indian to be crowned as Miss Deaf World, Vidisha Baliyan, a retired tennis player, to Ekta Bhyan, recipient of the national award for empowerment of persons with disabilities and a gold medallist in the women’s club – the stage is set for such eminent disabled speakers to inspire generation next to look for abilities in their disabilities.
The 3-day fest scheduled from August 27 to 29 is being held with the theme – ‘Salam-E-Cinema’.
Under the segment of ‘Alfaaz’ - a motivational talk show, guest speakers including Baliyan, Bhyan and Sanjay Chakraborty have been invited. Alfaaz is scheduled at FTE’s Sir M Visvesvaraya Auditorium on August 28.
“Sanjay Chakraborty is an accomplished entrepreneur, columnist, TEDx Speaker and a professional quiz master. He also has his name enlisted in the India Book of Records and the Limca Book of World Records,” said student Raj Lad.
“Under the segment of ‘Artico’ – an entertainment night, we have invited Nepalese hip-hop dance crew - The Wild Rippers Dance Crew, the 9teen band apart from differently-abled artist and international wheelchair basketball player Javed Choudhari,” said student Saksham Garg.
“Saurabh Gadhavi, recognized as one of the youngest Indian musicians with disabilities and an international drummer and percussionist who has created a unique style of playing music and drumming, will also be performing,” said Garg, adding that Artico is scheduled at Sir Sayaji Nagar Gruh on August 29.
