VADODARA: The students’ council of city-based Parul Group of Institutes celebrated International Youth Day on Tuesday.
Continuing with the debate competition which it had successfully organized last year on the same day, the second grand inter – college youth debate was organized at the campus on Tuesday.
Eight colleges from across Gujarat including Gandhinagar Institute of Technology (GIT, Gandhinagar), Navrachna University (Vadodara), Babaria Institute of Technology (BITS, Vadodara), Ipcowala Institute of Engineering & Technology (V V Nagar), G H Patel Institute of Technology (GCET, V V Nagar) and Parul Group of Institutes (Vadodara) participated in the debate competition.

There were two rounds in the debate. In the first round, all the teams debated on the topic - Our cultural diversity is our global identity. After the first round, the two teams which made it to the final round were Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidhyala (BVM, V V Nagar) and Navrachna University.
In the final round, ‘India is young: Advantage or Disadvantage’ was the topic of the debate. After both the teams put forward their strongest points, BVM won the champions trophy for the year 2014.
While jury for the debate comprised of Nisarg Patel, executive engineer of L&T Power and Bhavesh Agnani, senior talent acquisition manager of Sterling Hoffman, all the winners were felicitated with trophies by president of Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nilesh Shukla.
