Vadodara: The committee constituted by MS University to probe into the ruckus created by a group of former students at the faculty of science has decided to call parents of all the students who had disrupted science week celebrations.
The university had constituted the fact-finding committee based on a representation made by all the heads of the science departments.
The teachers wanted strict action to be taken against a group of seven students who were involved in creating ruckus at the faculty and misbehaving with teachers during the valedictory function of science week celebrations on February 28.
“We have concluded the first hearing of the committee in which all the accused students were heard. The second hearing of the committee is scheduled on March 25 in which we have called the parents. We will show them the video footage of the entire incident and let them know the misbehaviour of their wards,” said a committee member.
The group of students had created disturbance in the programme by shouting, misbehaving and using abusive language. A report submitted by the faculty with evidence in form of video-recording and photographs of the incident states that the programme was held up for around 10 minutes due to the ruckus.
The group of students include Yogesh Agrawal and Hardik Gajera - both students of technology and engineering faulty. Five other second year students include Jay Valand, Manav Patel, Shubham Parmar and Kuldeep Joshi besides a first year student of the faculty, Prajit Patel.
The committee comprises science faculty dean and university proctor, prof Haribhai Kataria, two syndicate members, dean of Faculty of Technology and Engineering, chief warden of Halls of Residence, security and vigilance officer, dean of student of MK Amin Arts and Science College and College of Commerce, Padra and dean of student of Faculty of Science.
