One year jail term for BJP councillor

Vadodara: A BJP councillor has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment by the court after a cheque he issued got dishonoured. Kalpesh Patel, councillor of ward 18, had issued a cheque of Rs 2 crore to Keyur Patel but it bounced after it was deposited in the bank.
Complainant said that the councillor had floated a project in Manjalpur area and took his help as project finance consultant. Keyur also said that Patel did partnership with him for investing in a land and promised to share profits. Keyur had paid Rs 1.68 crore to Patel in 2013 for buying the land and the latter had promised to pay Rs 1.8 crore to him. Patel issued a cheque of over Rs 2 crore to Keyur but when it bounced, the latter sent him a legal notice.
