On Independence Day, several projects to be dedicated to Vadodara

VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (

VMC

) will be conducting a series of programmes to inaugurate work on important projects in the city. The civic body is on a spree to do so in the wake of ensuing state-level Independence Day celebrations to be held in the city.

While the celebrations may be devoid of much fanfare in wake of the floods in north Gujarat, important announcements including those for civic projects are expected. Prior to the celebrations, smaller events have also been planned in the city.

On Thursday, state minister for water supply, animal husbandry, fisheries and civil aviation, Babu

Bokhiriya

will kick off works amounting to Rs 18.37 crore. The projects include dedication to the public of the overhead water supply tank erected at Vasna with an investment of Rs 13.12crore. A skating rink in

Gotri

area of the city made at a cost of Rs 1.48 crore will also be inaugurated by the minister.

Bokhiriya will kick off work on the development of the Kashivishveshwar Mahadev temple on Jetalpur Road. An ornate gate and compound wall are being constructed at an expense of Rs 50 lakh around the temple that is amongst the

temples in the city. Work on the beautification of the Laxmipura pond at an investment of Rs 3.27crore will also kick off on that day.
