VADODARA: Four officials involved with polling at a booth in Dharmaj in Petlad taluka of Anand district were booked for bogus voting that took place during the Anand constituency Lok Sabha polls on April 23. Repolling had to be ordered at the booth No 8 in Dharmaj due to the irregularity.
Bogus voting was exposed at the booth No 8 in Dharmaj as the booth was identified as a critical booth and was under CCTV surveillance that was being webcast.
When the election officials examined the footage, it came to light that a particular person had come to cast his vote on multiple occasions.
The election officials informed the election commission following which a decision was taken to conduct a repoll on the booth on Sunday. It was also decided to register an offence regarding the bogus voting.
The offence was registered by zonal officer for the polls Kiritkumar Shah at the Petlad rural police station under the Representation of the People Act. The offence names chief presiding officer Dilip Patel, chief polling officer Keyur Patel, woman polling officer Varsha Prajapati and polling officer Jaya Vankar as accused.
