Now, Karamsad gets Bhaikaka University
Vadodara/ Anand: After Charotar Vidya Mandal (CVM), the state government has accorded private university status to Karamsad-based Charutar Arogya Mandal (CAM).
According to CAM, the Gujarat assembly has given its approval to the bill to transform CAM into a private university under the name of ‘Bhaikaka University’.
“The mandal had more than four decades of experience in the field of medical education and health care,” said CAM chairman Atul Patel.
“The objective of the private university will be to maintain all the existing educational programmes and initiate academic programmes in niche areas of medical specialities to provide job oriented courses in a changing health care environment,” he said.
“Status of the university will help mandal create its own identity as an academic medical centre of excellence. This identity would enable the students to receive their degrees from the same organization,” said CAM’s honorary secretary Jagrut Bhatt.
CAM, a non-profit trust, was founded in 1972 by late Dr H M Patel, former finance and home minister of India. It operates seven educational institutes including the Pramukhswami Medical College, School and College of Nursing, a physiotherapy college and an institute of post graduate studies. These institutions have around 1,300 students enrolled in 57 different courses.
