VADODARA: The curious case of a man who died due to Covid-19 in Vadodara returning home in MP after two years has taken an interesting turn, with the hospital where he allegedly died claiming that they have no such patient on record.
Kamlesh Patidar, a resident of Kadodkalan village in Badnavar taluka of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, had reached the residence of his maternal uncle in Badveli village in the early hours on Saturday.

His family members claimed that he had died due to Covid-19 in Vadodara and was also cremated there two years ago.
Relatives had claimed that Patidar had tested positive in Badveli and was brought to Vadodara for treatment. They claimed he died in Vadodara, his body was shown to them in a PPE kit, and then cremated.
After returning home on Saturday, Patidar claimed that after recovering from Covid he was abducted by a gang and kept in Ahmedabad. He also alleged that he was being injected with drugs that kept him unconscious. While being taken somewhere in a car, Patidar escaped and boarded an Indore-bound bus to reach home, he said.
When asked regarding the patient and the alleged mix-up, officials said that the patient did not figure in the records in Vadodara. The details of deaths and positive patients were being maintained for the entire district by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
VMC’s medical officer (health) Dr Devesh Patel said that the name of Kamlesh Patidar did not figure in the list of deceased with the VMC.
Dhiraj Hospital where Patidar allegedly took treatment also told the police that there was no such patient in their records.
“The name does not figure in our records. We checked the details and have also informed police officials who approached us,” said Dhiraj Hospital medical superintendent Dr Lavlesh Kumar.
