Vadodara: Yash Shah brought laurels to the city when he emerged as the state topper in the IIT-JEE examination. He scored 332 out of 360 marks.

Shah who is a student of New Era Senior Secondary High School, Sama, aspires to pursue computer science and engineering.

"I was confident of scoring a rank in the state. I had started preparing while I was in Class 9 and it is my parents' blessing that has helped me bag first rank," said Yash, whose father Divyesh is employed with Gujarat State Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited (GSFC) and mother Kinari is a housewife.

Priyadarshini Kelkar, principal of New Era School who was full of praises for him, said, "He is a very sincere boy. It is his through perseverance that he has topped the state. We are very proud of him. Apart from studies, he used to participate in all extra-curricular activities as well."

"A total of 153 students from our centre had appeared, of which 91 have qualified for the JEE advanced examinations. Yash is a very bright student. I am very confident he achieve a position in top 20 All India ranking. ," director of Yukti Learning Centre, Vadodara, Amit Dixit told TOI.
