Vadodara: In a first, an initiative started by a student of M S University (MSU) will be featured in Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio.
'Sanedo' a song promoting cleanliness prepared by Hemang Joshi, a student MSU's Faculty of Social Work, two years back, will soon get a mention in the monthly radio programme of PM.
It was in August last that Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel had launched the 'sanedo' penned by Joshi.
In fact, Joshi also received a letter of appreciation from Prime Minister's office on Friday.
"This is for the first time that a student from our faculty has been appreciated by the PM for an initiative. This is a national-level recognition. This is a moment of pride for us," said dean of the faculty professor M N Parmar.
"It is an honour for me to be appreciated by the PM. I was surprised to know that my initiative promoting health and hygiene will get a mention in 'Mann Ki Baat'. It is a lifetime achievement for me," said Joshi, who received a call from PMO seeking details of the song he had penned.
The 'sanedo' song sung by city-based singer Bhoomi Trivedi was launched by the CM on Gandhi Jayanti as part of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
Joshi, a student of MHRM, had prepared the 'sanedo' as a part of his faculty assignment as a community awareness tool when he was attending a rural camp in Navsari.
"Gradually, the 'sanedo' got popular at garba venues in Junagadh, Rajkot and Porbandar districts of Saurashtra apart from Vadodara, Dahod and Navsari before it was launched in a new avatar with music provided by Rahul Ranade and Kedar Mukudam, teachers from university's Faculty of Performing Arts," said Joshi.
