More water released from Kadana dam

Vadodara: Villages on the banks of Mahi river in Mahisagar and Panchmahal district were asked to remain on alert as more water was released from the Kadana dam on Tuesday afternoon. In wake of the steady inflow of fresh water into the dam, around 1.5 lakh cusecs of water was released from the dam. Officials of the Kadana project asked the villages on the banks of the river in Lunawada, Kadana and Khanpur talukas of Mahisagar district as well as Godhra and Shahera talukas of Panchmahal district to exercise caution while visiting the river. tnn

Gates of dams in five districts opened

Several dams in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have been opened to release excess water due to heavy rainfall. In Mandsaur district, five gates of Gandhi Sagar dam were opened, while in Alirajpur district, five gates of Fata dam were opened. In Khandwa, all 23 gates of Omkareshwar dam were opened. In Ujjain, five gates of Gambhir dam were opened, and in Indore, four gates of Yashwant Sagar dam and all 20 gates of Indira Sagar dam were opened. In Himachal Pradesh, the jammed gates of the Malana dam have yet to be fixed. In Nashik district, heavy rainfall has increased water levels in 24 dams.

Water stock in Nashik dams swells, more showers in store

Recent heavy rains in Nashik have significantly increased the water stock in 24 dams, bringing their storage levels to 80% of capacity. This rise in water levels will benefit the agriculture sector and help maintain the required reservoir operation schedule. However, authorities are also considering asking other districts to release water to compensate for the low water stock in the Jayakwadi dam. Despite the increase in water stock, more rainfall is needed to fully recharge groundwater levels and ensure all dams are at 100% capacity.
