Vadodara: Budding doctors of Baroda Medical College celebrated World Doctor's Day in a novel manner on Friday. A health check-up camp was organized for free by the medical students at M S University's Experimental School.
As part of the celebrations, the medicos took lecture focusing on the importance of maintaining good mental and physical health.
During the camp organized for over 350 boys and girls students of class VIII to XII (science and commerce). "It was alarming to see that over 100 cases of anemia, obesity and underweight. It was surprising to find that a boy studying in class VIII weighed less than 30kgs. Quite a good number of students were also suffering from tonsillitis," said Dr Harsh Vyas, a final year MBBS student. TNN
Explaining the reasons for low health rate among the school students, Vyas points that many of them skip meals. Amidst their tight schedule, they consume junk food and are getting accustomed to unhealthy living.
"Immediate treatment has been suggested to the sick. We have also referred the diseased to Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital and other private hospitals in the city for proper medication," he said.
