VADODARA: A land dealer was arrested by Halol police in connection with a case of transfer of lands based on dubious documents. The realtor,
Yogesh Shah, has been remanded for eight days in police custody.
The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint filed by Jivan Parmar, a farmer residing at Masvad village of Halol taluka. Parmar had alleged that Shah, who runs a firm by the name of Jay Narayan Developers, had transferred land owned by him using fake documents including a dubious power of attorney.
Halol police inspector V R Bajpai said that six plots of land bearing different survey numbers were transferred in similar fashion. He added that out of these, four were in possession of Shah, while two others were sold to another person.
Sources said besides Shah there were 16 other accused who wanted to take advantage of the development of the phase three of Halol GIDC. They obtained land on dubious documents in an attempt to sell them at higher prices.
In the past, Shah was arrested in a similar offence regarding a land deal in Maruva village of Halol taluka. Bajpai said the modus operandi in Maruva was similar to the present case.
