VADODARA: Soon, when citizens will walk into
Karjan
police station, they will not have to go from one table to another with their queries or complaints.
The Karjan police station is soon to become people friendly as it is one of the 33 rural police stations selected to be made into 'smart' police station by the state government.
The police station will be equipped with technology for which the staff will also be trained. Karjan police inspector
D D Simpi
told TOI: "We will introduce many people friendly initiatives, making our presence felt on social media is one of them. We are also planning to make groups on web-based messaging applications for making communication between citizens and us easy." Such measures will help people to get their complaints registered or queries solved, he said. A Nagrik Suvidha
Kendra
(city civic centre) will also be established from where people can get all information related to the police department or where police permission is required. A mechanism will also be developed where feedback from the citizens can be collected regularly.
Simpi said, "Apart from people friendly initiatives, we are also going to focus on power saving and maintenance of cleanliness in and around the police station."
"The government has selected police stations that were recently built and are headed by a police inspector. The government has already approved Rs 10 lakh for the development of Karjan police station and Rs 25 lakh more can be spent for further upgradation," said
K D Parmar
, deputy superintendent of police of Vadodara.
