VADODARA: Surveys, searches and targets have been taken over by lights-camera-action for this income tax (I-T) officer posted in the city.
Additional commissioner of income tax Sudhanshu Shekhar Jha has been working overtime besides his department work to direct a movie. It will be the first movie to be shot entirely in and around the city. This 1992 batch Indian Revenue Service officer, known for his interest in theatre, short films and commercials, has now graduated to commercial movies.
Shooting on the medium budget Hindi movie 'Palchhin' commenced last month and is expected to get over by the month-end. The flick, which is expected to be released this June, stars Chandrachur Singh, Sanjay Suri, 'Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster' fame Shreya Narayan, 'Chak De India' actor Chitrashi Rawat and Auroshikha Dey.
Vadodara was chosen as a location for the movie as it has virgin locations that have not been exploited yet. "The city is beautiful and has several good locations. It is also a hassle-free city to work in as the crew does not attract unruly crowds who may disrupt the shoots," line producer for the movie Yogendrasinh Gaekwad said.
Some scenes of 'Brahmachari' starring late Shammi Kapoor, 'Rang Rasiya' on legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma, 'Mother India' and 'Daku Aur Jawan' were shot in and around Vadodara.
'Palchhin' will be the second movie that Jha will direct, but it will be his debut in commercial films. His first movie 'Eik Dasttak' had revolved around a team of I-T officials who work as a team to overcome odds and was a non-commercial project. While visibility is crucial to most film personalities, it is something that Jha has to avoid. His profession does not allow him to do that.
Gaekwad said that the movie has a romantic plot and 'Palchhin' means a small moment. "One remembers moments and not days, months or years. The characters in the movie are not larger than life. They are normal persons who deal with a situation that is larger than life," says Gaekwad.
