Vadodara: Two separate incidents of attack on traffic policemen were reported in the city on Tuesday. An assistant sub inspector was dragged by a speeding auto-rickshaw in Sayajigunj area, while in another incident a traffic head constable and a staff from traffic brigade were assaulted by a commuter on Old Padra Road.

Assistant sub inspector Daulatsinh Motisingh was dragged by the auto- rickshaw after he tried to stop its driver for overloading. The incident took place at around 10.50am. Accused Hitesh Rohit, a resident of Ajwa Road, was ferrying passengers beyond the prescribed limit. Motisingh, who stopped the auto-rickshaw near Kalaghoda, fined Rohit.

Police said Rohit shouted and accused Motisingh of asking bribe from him and tried to escape in his vehicle. Motising held on to the auto-rickshaw and was dragged for a few meters. Police arrested Rohit soon after the incident. Motisingh sustained injuries on his feet and knees. His uniform too was torn.

The other incident concerned a traffic constable and a staff from traffic brigade who were attacked by a commuter on Old Padra Road. Head constable Mahendrasinh Chavda and traffic brigade staff Hitesh Maali were assaulted by Nishit Shah. The incident took place when the accused refused to stop his car at a signal near Manisha Crossroads in the evening.

Shah got into an argument with the head constable.

Police said Shah later attacked Chavda and Maali and hurled abuses at them. Shah was later arrested by the police.
