Vadodara: India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been out of action since September due to injury, is keen to play for Baroda in the Ranji tie against Mumbai next month.
Pandya had called up Baroda coach Atul Bedade and expressed his wish to play against Mumbai. Bedade then sent an email to Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) secretary and it was forwarded to Ranji selectors. “BCA always welcomes its senior players to play for the team. It will be a good practice for Pandya and even Baroda will have an advantage against a strong team like Mumbai,” said Snehal Parikh, BCA secretary (in-charge)
Selectors are also positive about Pandya’s comeback in the team that will need the experience of senior players. The Ranji selectors will meet next month to pick up the squad for the match against Mumbai that will begin on December 14. Pandya has been in rehabilitation after suffering back injury during the Asia Cup in September this year.
The 25-year-old has played 11 test matches, 42 one-day internationals, 35 T20 internationals and 28 first-class matches.
