VADODARA: An infant boy that was abducted last week from Navinagri in Waghodia taluka was found in possession of a couple in Bihar that had paid Rs 4 lakh for it.

booked Narendrakumar Ranjan, who wanted the child for himself, Kalpesh Rathod, who was contacted by Ranjan, Pravin Chunara, Chunara’s wife Daxa Chunara, Kalidas Vaghri and Raman Rathodiya for carrying out the abduction.

Police said that Ranjan had contacted Rathod around six months for a child as he and his wife did not have any kids.

Rathod, a resident of Panchmahal, then contacted the Chunara couple living under Fatehgunj flyover bridge to find a child.

When the couple could not find a child, they contacted Vaghri, who is from their community, to find a child in Waghodia.

Recently, Vaghri got to know that a woman from his community living in a neighbouring village had delivered a baby boy.

On October 21, he planned to kidnap the child along with Rathodiya.

Late at night, when the child’s family members were asleep, Vaghri and Rathodiya entered the house and took away the child.

He gave the child to the Chunara couple, who passed it onto Rathod.

Ranjan and his wife were called to Gujarat and the child was handed over to them for Rs 4 lakh.

By the time police rounded up all abductors, Ranjan and his wife had already left for Bihar.

A police team was then sent to Bihar and the child and Ranjan were brought back.

On Tuesday, the child was handed over to his parents and all accused were arrested.
